Acordou com preguiça, tem de ir para a escola, são sete e quarenta e cinco. Acaba este ano a escola complementar e tem notas para ingressar no curso de engenharia. Toma banho e o seu pai que é eletricista está a tomar o pequeno almoço servido por sua mulher Clotilde. Saem os dois no carro comprado em segunda mão. A sua namorada, colega de turma também tem boas notas e aspira a um curso superior. Passados seis meses encontra-se num quarto alugado na cidade dos estudantes. Começou no primeiro ano da Universidade tem preparação necessária para compreender as matérias dadas. À noite vai beber uns copos com os novos amigos estudantes, mas sente falta da sua namorada que foi estudar para a Capital. Comprou cinquenta euros de erva a um colega e levanta-se tarde. Não vai às aulas, mas tira boas notas nos exames. Passou de ano e tem boas espectativas. Agora vai gozar férias a casa dos pais. Só que no início do ano escolar o pai diz-lhe para ele continuar os estudos. Um quarto e alimentação significam metade do ordenado do seu progenitor. Telefona a um colega que o manda tentar uma bolsa na Fundação Cunha. E assim faz. Apresenta-se num edifício do século XVIII e é recebido por uma irmã. Logo se apercebe ter de cumprir horários todos os dias. Sair às oito de manhã e entrar às sete da tarde. Está como numa prisão, no fundo não pode gozar a boa vida de estudante dos seus colegas que são sustentados por famílias mais abastadas. Mesmo assim consegue boas notas, é a única maneira de acabar o curso. Tem horários para se alimentar e se deitar, fica com barriga e está no quarto ano dos estudos. Imagina a vida livre dos seus colegas, por isso vai tentar fugir com o dinheiro que ganhou num negócio escuro nas horas livres de almoçar. Naquele dia não se apresentou às sete horas na Fundação Cunha. Já tinha alugado um quarto e levado a sua roupa e os seus livros. Passa o último ano na borga e a deitar-se às seis da manhã e sem telefonar aos pais. Tem a certeza de já ter o canudo quando a irmã o espera à porta da cantina. Está proibido de comer na cantina se não voltar imediatamente para a Fundação Cunha e cumprir os horários entre muros até acabar o curso, assim é assinado por seu pai e pelo reitor. Muito saudoso da boa vida noturna de estudante acabou o curso do modo das ordens superiores que lhe foram dadas. Tem uma licenciatura e os anúncios de emprego são muitos. Percorre o país a responder às propostas e o dinheiro está a acabar. Vê-se no desemprego e sem sustente. Um colega seu foi preso nas mesmas circunstâncias por roubar. Volta a casa dos pais e passa quatro meses sem fazer nada. Encontrou a sua antiga namorada que é enfermeira na sua localidade. O pai só tem uma solução, ensinar ao seu filho a sua profissão, eletricista. Finalmente encontra trabalho ao lado do pai. Tem a teoria e agora a prática da profissão de eletricista. Ganha o suficiente para comer, pagar um empréstimo de habitação, comprar um carro em segunda mão e finalmente casar com a hábil enfermeira que é sua namorada há já oito anos.

He woke up feeling lazy, he has to go to school, it's seven forty-five. This year he finishes secondary school and has grades to enroll in the engineering course. He takes a shower and his father who is an electrician is having breakfast served by his wife Clotilde. The two leave in the second-hand car. His girlfriend, a classmate, also has good grades and aspires to higher education. Six months later, she finds herself in a rented room in the student city. Started in the first year of the University, he has the necessary preparation to understand the given subjects. At night he goes out for drinks with his new student friends, but he misses his girlfriend who went to study in the capital. He bought fifty euros worth of weed from a colleague and he gets up late. He doesn't go to classes, but he gets good grades on his exams. He passed the year and has good expectations. Now he's going to enjoy vacation at his parents' house. But at the beginning of the school year, his father tells him to continue his studies. A room and board mean half of your parent's salary. He calls a colleague who tells him to apply for a scholarship at the Cunha Foundation. And so it does. He shows up in an 18th century building and is received by a sister. He soon realizes he has to meet schedules every day. He leaves at eight in the morning and comes in at seven in the afternoon. He is like in a prison, deep down he cannot enjoy the good student life of his colleagues who are supported by wealthier families. Even so he gets good grades, it's the only way to finish the course. He has timetables for eating and going to bed, he has a belly and he is in the fourth year of studies. He imagines the free life of his colleagues, so he will try to run away with the money he earned in a shady business in his free lunch hours. That day, he didn't show up at Fundação Cunha at seven o'clock. He had already rented a room and taken away his clothes and books. He spends the last year in the village and going to bed at six in the morning without calling his parents. He is sure he already has the straw when his sister is waiting for him at the canteen door. He is prohibited from eating in the cafeteria if he does not immediately return to the Cunha Foundation and stick to the schedule between the walls until he finishes the course, as signed by his father and the dean. Very nostalgic for the good student nightlife, he finished the course in accordance with the superior orders given to him. He has a degree and the job advertisements are many. He travels around the country responding to proposals and the money is running out. He finds himself unemployed and without support. A colleague of his was arrested under the same circumstances for stealing. He returns to his parents' house and spends four months doing nothing. He found his old girlfriend who is a nurse in his locality. The father has only one solution, teach his son his profession, electrician. He eventually finds work alongside his father. He has the theory and now the practice of the electrician's profession. He earns enough to eat, pay off a home loan, buy a second-hand car, and finally marry the skilled nurse who has been his girlfriend for eight years.
